Josef Hoffmann (1870-1956) Architect

Josef Hoffmann was an Austrian architect. He was a student of Otto Wagner and representative of the New Direction in Austrian architecture. His works were characterized by cool professionalism that is especially evident in his houses. With its strict construction, usually he applyed many detail, especially in color and very vivid decorations. As leader of the "Wiener Werkst├Ątte" he had a great influence on the development of handicrafts.
